Cherie works part time in a number of different roles at BDS. These include being the monitor of the online catalogue, coordinating new books as they arrive and repairing older books. She is also an active member of the BDS book selection committee.
Cherie is part of a book group that has been running for 22 years, so has read a significant number of BDS books in that time! (This is why she is also the go-to member of staff for compiling Mystery Book Parcels.) She is particularly keen on character-driven fiction; enjoying dystopian fiction and also those with darker themes. Some of her favourite titles from the catalogue are The Tally Stick, The Sweetness of Water, and Plum Rains — with a special nod to Cutting For Stone and anything ever written by Kent Haruf.
More recently, Cherie has read and recommends The Last Thing to Burn, Our Missing Hearts and The Axeman’s Carnival.
