Former Iraqi interpreter Arman Bajalan is adjusting to his new life in the US after the Iraq War, when he finds a body on a beach with links to his past, a sure sign that those who want his testimony silenced, have him in their sights. Coming to his aid are detectives Catherine Wheel and Lamar Adams, along with a journalist investigating a private military contractor going after a multi-billion-dollar government deal.

Depicting the collateral damage of war, this is a complex and disturbing thriller, fuelled by greed and power, and presented in a taut plot full of surprises.

Comments from BDS Reviewers

"The book captured me in the first chapter and did not let up to the end."

"Very well-written, with a taut plot, few distractions and plenty of surprises."

"The characters are well-depicted, credible and likeable. There is a good gender balance between the two leading females and two males."

"This is probably the best thriller I have read this year. I finished it in a tick over two days."

"This book reminded me very much of the early Jack Reacher novels by Lee child, which set the bar for contemporary thrillers."

"It is more than just another police procedural or simple thriller. It is powerful while avoiding the visceral, despite the body count."
