Only Say Good Things

Hefner, Crystal

  0 Reviews

Halloween parties at the Playboy Mansion were renowned for their rich and famous guests, as well as the coterie of smiling young women surrounding Hugh Hefner. Enter stage left Crystal Harris in 2008, having applied to attend and going on to become a ‘girlfriend’ and then a wife, sixty years younger than her famous husband.

This is the story of Crystal’s life, her experiences with the Playboy empire, and finally, with the death of her husband Hef, the chance to examine and reveal the consequences of choosing this seemingly glamorous life, with the benefit of hindsight and the revelations of the #MeToo movement. [Not for the faint hearted.]

Comments from BDS Reviewers

"Well-written. Very honest, interesting even for a bloke who finds Playboy stuff distasteful. Crystal effectively becomes part of the 'Me Too' movement."

"Online critics say the book is dishonest and self-serving but it doesn't come across that way."

"There is definitely sexual content, but it's frank (and sometimes funny) without being gratuitous."

"The writing style is simple and easy to follow, but while the reading of the book doesn't require much of you, I believe the discussion it should generate will require much more."

"I personally found it a worthy exercise in understanding the motivations of beautiful women who willingly exploit themselves."

"It was interesting to hear her perspective as she shares how desperately insecure she was, while at the same time leveraging her face and body to obtain status and security."

"The subtitle of the book 'Surviving Playboy' is not understatement!"

"If your group is broad-minded, then the discussion would be great. What does the existence of the Playboy empire say about our society?"
